| Hog to Btu...
It is with great pleasure that Thermix
Combustion Systems Inc and FASC (KDS Micronex) have formed a joint venture
to bring to the market a unique single source Biomass (Hog Fuel) to BTU
concept.
The new system is a compact, easy to operate, inexpensive to run, solution
for producing safe, clean, versatile, dependable fuel derived from a biomass
source, such as hog. Each sub assembly is pre-packaged to minimize the
impact on day-to-day operations during installation and commissioning.
Qualified boiler supervisors will already have the necessary skills to
operate most of the new systems. Only minimal extra training will be
required, highlighting the capabilities of the new system, which is part of
this package.
The Micronizer KDS standing wave technology reduces raw hog to a fine dry
powder with less than 8% moisture that exhibits excellent combustion
properties when used in combination with LBE/Thermix wood dust suspension
burners. There is a tremendous potential for substantial fuel cost savings
when this technology is applied to substitute a fossil fuel consumer with
fuel derived from local biomass waste.
The new system is a fully integrated solution that incorporates material
handling from the hog pile, screening and transport, dust preparation,
storage and delivery of the dust fuel to the burner. The integrated approach
means that hog handling and dust generation and dosing systems are
controlled by the heat requirement of the new swing burner.
The system has a single control panel with safety controls, monitoring
system, programmed material handling system and pollution control measures
built in. The controls package may be integrated with most standard plant
DCS systems. The small footprint and modular construction of the components
makes installation simple, with the minimum impact on day-to-day operations.
Most of the installation work can be completed off line, with the dust
handling and delivery systems undergoing full service trails prior to the
installation of the new swing burner during a scheduled shutdown. This
minimizes the down time required to complete the conversion and reduces the
commissioning time required to bring the new system into full operation.
The system can also operate with conventional fuels fired alone or in
combination allowing the user to take advantage of changes in fuel prices or
periods where hog fuel is not available.
The system is designed to minimize the space required for installation.
Prepared dust can be transported relatively great distances therefore the
new equipment can be installed at any convenient location. |
