Thermix has worked hard over the years to develop efficient and reliable heating
systems for conventional galvanizing kettles. Thermix was one of the first companies in
North America to implement the use of pulse firing for externally heated kettles.
We have been at the forefront of the new trend to heat large galvanizing kettles with high
velocity burners.
We pay careful attention to the relationship between the high velocity flame and the
kettle. Our design incorporates features that were developed using sophisticated C.F.D.
techniques. The result is a system that is efficient, easy to maintain, reliable and
produces excellent temperature uniformity and response to changing conditions.
In addition to almost indestructible
Hauck SVG burner,
particular attention is paid to the control system of every new installation. The standard
control is Pulse firing, where temperature is maintained by the regulation of the time
that each burner fires, instead of the more conventional proportional control. The
advantages of this type of control are many, however the most important is that the high
velocity burners are operated to produce the maximum amount of gas mixing inside the
setting. This results in excellent temperature uniformity around the kettle and the
elimination of hot spots.
The control for the pulse firing is programmed into a readily available plc.
Integration with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is easy via Allen Bradley data highway
of Modbus++ for example. For larger installations we would be happy to discuss the use of
PC communications using Wonderware or Citech.
Thermix offers a full design and consultancy service and would be happy to provide all
of the combustion controls as prepackaged manifolds, and pre-wired programmed and tested
control panels. In addition we would be happy to offer a full design service to enable the
client to manufacture their own equipment. This service would include project management,
supervision and commissioning services.
In addition to these services we have designs for high efficiency wash and rinse tanks,
fume hoods, pre heaters and post galvanize heating (side heating before mini spangle rigs
for example).
